The Kadee 804 is a one-pair O scale coupler set featuring Original Style Head medium centerset plastic couplers in black, supplied complete with plastic gearboxes and lids. Made in the U.S.A., the 804 is a simple drop-in design compatible with all Kadee O scale couplers and works in place of #740, #745, #800, #801, #805, and #816 O scale medium centerset shank couplers. It can be mounted with the included #817 plastic gearbox or with the #818 metal gearbox or #819 extended metal gearbox (each sold separately). To avoid electrical crossover and shorting, Kadee does not recommend running a metal coupler directly on a metal surface or in a metal draft gearbox.

The 804 package includes 2 #804 Original Style plastic couplers with a medium centerset shank, 2 #817 plastic gearboxes and lids, and 3 #850 O scale centering springs; it uses #845 O scale knuckle springs. The medium shank measures 47/64" from the knuckle pulling face to the center hole of the draft gearbox, and the #817 gearbox measures 25/32"L x 1/2"W x 7/32"H. Mounting height is 25/32", centerline is 1 1/16", and trip pin height is 1/16"; 2-56 insulated screws are most commonly used. Check installation with the #812 O scale coupler height gauge.
