Add authentic equipment to operations from the 1960s through the 1980s with the Walthers Mainline 910-1150 40' Association of American Railroads (AAR) Modernized 1948 Boxcar in undecorated finish. Built by the thousands after World War II, many of these cars still had plenty of life left when new safety standards took effect in the mid-1960s to eliminate most freight car running boards. Roads often chose inexpensive upgrades to comply, adding short ladders on the A end while keeping the longer ladder, high brake wheel and single roof grab iron on the B end.

Item 910-1150 is offered as a one-time run in this configuration, with limited quantity available. The model features no running board or roof mounts, tall ladders at the B (brake wheel) end and short ladders at the A end, an improved Dreadnaught 4-4 end with rectangular top rib, a diagonal panel roof, 6' Youngstown doors, 10-panel riveted sides and a 10'6" interior height. It rides on Bettendorf trucks with correct 33" turned-metal wheelsets and rolls on Proto MAX magnetic metal knuckle couplers.
