The Walthers Mainline 910-5517 recreates the 85' General American G85 flatcar, a design that General American introduced in the 1960s and that quickly became a mainstay of North American intermodal service. On the prototype these versatile cars carried 40', 45' and 48' trailers as well as 20' and 40' containers, working trailer-on-flatcar (TOFC) and container-on-flatcar (COFC) assignments from 1961 into the late 2000s. A number even ran in fast passenger consists during the 1960s, moving expedited trailers and containers across the country.

Lettered for GTTX (Brown) #300370, this HO scale model arrives fully assembled and ready to run straight from the box. Item 910-5517 rides on 70-ton roller bearing trucks fitted with correct 33" RP-25 turned-metal wheelsets and Proto MAX metal knuckle couplers, while a heavy die-cast metal center sill keeps it tracking smoothly whether it is running empty or loaded. General American (GATC) hitches and container pedestals are applied to match the prototype, and a detailed underbody with brake gear completes the car. This is a one-time run of these road numbers in limited quantities.
