As the 53' container became the standard for domestic freight, the older well cars built for 48' boxes quickly fell out of favor, even though most were only a few years old.

Rather than scrap them, Thrall launched a rebuilding program in 2003 that shortened the wells to a standard 40' on both single and five-unit cars. Today these rebuilds carry 20' and 40' boxes down in the well while stacking 40' and 53' units up top. Fully assembled and ready for service, 910-55670 joins your roster as TTX (DTTX) #748257. These road numbers are a one-time, limited run.
