The Walthers Mainline 910-55679 is a ready-to-run HO scale (1:87) Thrall 5-Unit Rebuilt 40' Well Car decorated for BNSF Santa Fe Leasing SFLC #1053. As 53' containers became the standard for domestic shipping, older well cars sized for 48' boxes fell out of favor, and starting in 2003 Thrall began shortening the wells on both single and five-unit cars to a standard 40'. These rebuilds now haul 20' and 40' containers down in the well while carrying 40' and 53' units up top.

Fully assembled and ready for service, item 910-55679 rides on 100- and 70-ton roller bearing trucks with correct 36" and 33" RP-25 turned metal wheelsets, and a heavy die-cast metal frame keeps it running well whether empty or loaded. Finely molded brake detail and Proto MAX metal knuckle couplers round out the car. This is a one-time run of these road numbers in limited quantity.
