The Walthers Proto 920-103661 recreates a Milwaukee Road rib-side caboose lettered for the St. Maries River Railroad as #996 in a red, white and black scheme with the later oil stove arrangement. Milwaukee Road constructed these home-built cars in its own shops, and they served system-wide from 1939 into the 1980s before many passed to other railroads, with several still preserved today. This HO scale ready-to-run model brings that classic rib-side look to stream- and diesel-era layouts or display shelves.

The 920-103661 stands out for its factory-applied detail, with wire grab irons, railings and ladders mounted at the factory along with a detailed underbody carrying separate brake gear. Correct Milwaukee-style trucks are fitted with 33" RP-25 turned metal wheelsets, and Proto MAX magnetic metal knuckle couplers handle coupling at each end.
