Towers like this stood in yards at servicing facilities as well as along mainlines and branchlines to refuel engines on the road, and they could linger into the late-steam or early-diesel era as reminders of how things used to be.

This easy-to-build plastic 933-2922 features a realistic coal bunker plus detailed chutes and mechanisms, with a hopper unloading shed along one side for receiving coal. Like the prototype it serves two tracks at once, maximizing service in minimum space. Place it near a roundhouse or engine shed, turntable, water tank and sand tower for a complete servicing facility. Decal signs are included and it is molded in appropriate colors. Servicing track centers are 2-1/2" 6.4cm, and the hoist track sits 3-1/2" 8.9cm from the centerline of the track under the tower; overall it measures 7-1/2 x 6-1/2 x 10-5/8" 19.1 x 16.5 x 27cm.
