Since the earliest days of railroading, trestles like the one in the Walthers Cornerstone 933-3147 kit have carried track across low spots, streams and other obstacles, often as a cheaper and faster option than fill. A trestle is built from a series of piers called bents, and wood remained the favored material into the 1940s, with many examples surviving on branch and secondary lines to this day.

This 933-3147 kit combines a wooden trestle with an optional deck girder bridge for spanning a stream, highway or another railroad where bents could not be placed. The detailed plastic parts capture the all-wood look of the prototype, and the kit can be used as-is or modified in length or height to fit your scenes. As shown, the assembled model measures 15-1/2 x 4 x 4" 38.7 x 10 x 10cm and suits virtually any era.
