Description
The drive on this SD60 matches the mechanism found in Walthers Proto locomotives, pairing a 5-pole skew-wound motor with a 14:1 gear ratio and helical-cut gears for quiet operation and easy multiple-unit running. All-wheel drive and electrical pickup, dual machined brass flywheels, and a heavy die-cast metal chassis back it up, while a 21-pin DCC interface simplifies any future decoder work. Sound features on the 910-19764 include the full 8-notch 710 prime mover and compressor effects, with constant and directional LED headlights. Molded drill starter points are provided for grab irons using the EMD SD50/60 Diesel Detail Kit (910-256), sold separately, and the model rolls on RP-25 metal wheels with Proto MAX metal knuckle couplers.
