Amtrak launched service in May 1971 and rolled out its Phase I paint the following year, and the 73' Budd baggage car went on to spend decades hauling checked luggage on long distance trains across the system. This Walthers Proto 920-13082 model recreates that dependable steel car in HO scale, correctly proportioned to the full prototype length.

Item 920-13082 arrives ready to run in the Amtrak Phase IV (white lettering) scheme as car #1216 and carries factory-printed car number #1216. It features prototypically correct window tinting, factory-installed grab irons, turned RP-25 metal wheelsets, and Proto MAX metal knuckle couplers. A modeler-installed extended drawbar is included for operation on 22" radius curves, though a minimum 24" radius is recommended because the car is built to the true prototype length with full underbody detail.
