Add a piece of Pennsylvania Railroad merchandise service history to your layout with the Walthers Proto 920-102303 40' X29B steel boxcar, lettered for Pennsylvania Railroad #26504 in the Circle Keystone scheme. As postwar trucking cut into the railroad's less-than-carload traffic, the PRR launched expedited merchandise trains that raced freight between eastern cities on tight schedules. To carry it, the railroad rebuilt its classic X29 boxcars into the higher capacity X29b by mounting a larger body on the original underframe.

The 920-102303 is a fully assembled, ready to run replica that reproduces the correct 10'6" interior height and the modernized roof, ends and doors of the rebuilt prototype. Separately applied ladders, grab irons and underbody details add depth, while correctly sized RP-25 metal wheelsets and Proto MAX metal knuckle couplers keep Pennsylvania Railroad #26504 rolling smoothly and coupling reliably straight from the box.
